Abstract
Background
Although
no psychotropic medication is known to be specifically effective for dissociative symptoms, some abusive
substances, notably alcohol and stimulant drugs, can markedly alter
dissociative symptoms. Regarding psychotropic medications, a positive response
was observed in some patients with dissociative disorder symptoms who also have attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) for which methylphenidate extended
release (MER) is administered.
